FEAR-- I can see you.

*What To Do To Calm Down When I Feel Weird: Read this!* ( DEALING WITH FEAR )
  • A scary thing is just one thing among a bunch of other ones. And they're going to keep coming. So it's okay, there's nothing you can do to stop them coming!
  • Remember what might be, what I could do.
  • When it comes to avoiding versus dealing, deal as a soon as possible. This especially applies to homework. If you're thinking, "This or that thing is important...." then that moment is when you need to start, not a bit later or later than that. Time goes by faster than you think, so in order to do something you want, you do it now.
  • Think about this: people now, (and people in the future) care about me (God, family, friends, humanity). It's actually wronging those people's feelings of love to hurt myself with negativity that's not true. Build myself UP emotionally with that and my own positive praise.
  • Recognize when I am trying to escape my problems. If I do this enough, I might start to recognize it EVERY time instead of missing it.
  • HEARTFULNESS. awareness, non-judgmental, each moment is all I have, so admit it, calm down, and learn to love me right now-- that's the most that's possible. The future and the past are less significant than the present; "This is it". "This is happening".
  • Ensure I'm not trying to "make" myself do things or tell myself I "have to" do things that I really won't end up doing, or can't do. It's like dieting-- if you force yourself, especially while getting angry and judgmental with yourself about mistakes and failures, you're going to fail even more. So quit beating yourself and trying to make yourself do things. Set goals without undertaking harsh punishments for not finishing. Acknowledge this truth: I'm marshmallow-hearted.
  • If you want to do a good job, remember that no action should be driven by a force besides yourself-- you must take it on yourself. Do this when you're ready with a plan that will work.
